Way back in the old age, people used wood, bamboo, clays, and other organic substances as a building material due to the scarcity of medium for construction. As time goes by, technology emerges and paved the way for architecture and design industry to upgrade and to undergo modernization. Because of this, planning patterns were eventually analyzed until almost all buildings are very westernized. To the contrary, upholding our own Filipino culture and our indigeneity is what this earnest architecture firm continues to maintain.
Austria + Ibarra Architecture was established by Ar. Ibarra Pascual Burayag and Ar. Anthony Tario Austria on 2008. But before A+I architecture came into the picture; Ar. Ibarra had already established IDAB/IBARRA DESIGN ARCHITECT AND BUILDERS as his own firm. He worked hard for his company and received a local award. He is a Licensed Architect, Licensed Master Plumber and a Registered MEPF practitioner and that pursue him more to work and compete to a higher level. He is also a successful nominee in a one of the prestigious organizations ROYAL INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS Singapore as a FELLOW category. Moreover, Ar. Austria embarked on a career overseas. He has already received prestigious recognition for his body of work. Ar. Austria is a “Bayani Awardee” in the Architect Award Category in Dubai hosted by the Philippines Embassy. The National Commission of Culture and Arts have also recognized Anthony’s Visual Arts at the “Ani ng Dangal Awards 2018”, one of the highest recognitions in the Philippines.

Until Ar. Austria asked Ar. Ibarra to form another firm. Austria + Ibarra Architecture were made into a reality and it leads the duo into a much bigger opportunity. As they promote Filipino modern Architecture, clients have started to give them equal trust.

Proposed Christian Church, “Church of Faith”
TESTIMONY THROUGH PROJECTS
As te firm reaches their goal in preserving the Filipino culture with their designs, they’ve had a project proposal in Batangas called “Church of Faith”. It is a minimalist church design accommodating eight hundred to a thousand of people, integrated to environment that allows people to experience and witness first-hand the beauty of nature. The concept is derived from the firms’ desire to express “Faith of Christian” inspired from the Bible verse; Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” All of which are materials imitating the “Bahay kubo” concept with every idea being functionally and aesthetically applied.

“Nobody is perfect but at the end of the day you’ll ask yourself if you did your best.” Ar. Austria explained.
A+I architecture sets a standard that there is no room for mistakes. No turning back. Once they set foot into a certain project, they change their mindset as if to treat every project as a masterpiece. Like what their banner states, “In God we trust”, they are doing their business but also with as strong faith in the Creator. These also add to their way of thinking and design process as a whole which is to listen, emphasize, anticipate, and to collaborate with their clients as a reflection of the firms’ resolve to adhere with their core values.
“We highly concentrate on our own “love the unique” approach that clients will love. We want them to feel that their entrusted design to us defining their dream and they will be very proud of its design quality but less cost.” Ar. Ibarra added.
Through their efforts in promoting Filipino culture and their moral compass, they have received notable recognitions and awards. They bagged the Golden Globe Annual Awards for Business Excellence (Golden Globe Philippines) Elite Business Awards. They were awarded as the Architect of the year in 2016 and also CG artist Group Best Architectural Rendering Award. With all these, A+I firm gave a lot of hard-work, time, and sacrifices. Moving forward and staying focused without expecting anything in return was the strategy of the firm.
Bearing their clear vision for Filipino architecture, they believe that having such way of thinking will attest to their clients on how they value and endear the architecture profession.
